PEDIATRIC INFECTIOUS DISEASES


1/ Components of rashes (Macule): A macule is a circumscribed discoloration of the skin, not raised above the surface of the surrounding skin.Macules frequently evolve into papules and many rashes consist of a combination of both.Rashes of this intermediate type are designated maculo-papular.
2/Components of rashes (Papule):A papule is a small nodular elevation of the skin. Such lesion are common in : - chickenpox and small pox
3/Components of rashes (Vesicle):A vesicle is a small blister containing clear fluid.
These may be scattered irregular over the skin, as in chicken-pox, or ground in clusters, as in herpes simplex.
4/Components of rashes (Pastule):A pastule is a small elevation of the skin containing pus.It may form directly as a result of local sepsis or evolve from vesicle.
5/Components of rashes (Crust):A crust or scab is a congealed exudate on the skin.
Crusts are a prominent feature in impetigo and are a terminal stage in the evolution of vesicular eruptions.
